Still Opening Your Process? – Labom at ACHEMA 2024 https://fluidhandlingpro.com/international-fluid-handling-events/still-opening-your-process-labom-at-achema-2024/ Fri, 17 May 2024 13:25:37 +0000 https://fluidhandlingpro.com/?p=136597 To replace, calibrate and test measuring devices, they commonly require the plant’s process to be halted and opened in order to remove both the measuring device along with its process connection. This not only results in losing significant amounts of time and money, it also has the potential for mistakes and hazards. Labom, measuring device manufacturer from northern Germany, is presenting a large range of solutions to minimise downtimes and optimise the process at this year's ACHEMA.

The post Still Opening Your Process? – Labom at ACHEMA 2024 appeared first on Fluid Handling Pro.

]]>
One of these solutions is the patented REconnect quick coupling system for simple and safe disconnection and reconnection of diaphragm seal devices. Standing between the measuring device and the process connection it makes servicing as well as handling particularly easy when installing measuring devices with a capillary, where space is limited and the devices are difficult to reach.

The diaphragm seal testing device makes it possible to easily verify diaphragm seals in future without interrupting or opening the process. As the measuring device and diaphragm seal are separated from each other by a quick coupling system, the diaphragm seal itself can then easily be connected to the testing device instead.

The GV4730 MiniTherm temperature transmitter also helps to minimise downtimes: It is a transducer designed for installation inside a separate protective tube and can optionally be supplied with a ‘self-monitoring’ function – for redundant temperature measurement, drift detection and failure warning.

Other solutions include an in-process calibration method and clamp-on technology. With inprocess calibration, the respective measuring devices are designed so that they can be compared with a standard while attached to the process. The certified measuring standard is inserted into a special calibration opening in the device designed for this purpose. This makes it possible to monitor and check several measuring points at regular intervals, without any need to remove the temperature sensors. Clamp-on technology is used for temperature monitoring and process control, which is particularly useful for sterile processing. The temperature is measured from the pipe’s surface by means of simple clamp-on installation at any point in a pipework system – no interruption of the process or welding of a connection is required.

Labom will exhibit these and other measuring solutions that can be used to avoid opening the process at ACHEMA 2024 in Frankfurt am Main from 10 to 14 June in Hall 11.1 on Stand E45.

What is the role of Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) in automation?

SPE is a game-changer, especially for the food & beverage and life sciences industries. In highly automated process environments without extensive hazardous protection, SPE delivers a variety of benefits: it realizes the advantages of an Ethernet connection – such as the high speed and volume of transmitted data – at field level with a simple two-wire cable, which transmits both data and energy. The commissioning process is simplified with easy wiring and connectivity.

Moreover, the automation pyramid is flattened as other systems can now connect via Ethernet at field level, fostering seamless integration and interoperability. Data from smart instruments in the field can be processed in upper layer applications. This results in optimized machine design, connectedness and improved overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). For this reason, SPE proves its worth as an open, cost-efficient and future-proof technology that is ready for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Joining forces increases customer value

Endress+Hauser is dedicated to easing the digitalization journey for its customers. By joining the Single Pair Ethernet System Alliance, the company is demonstrating its trust in the members that are committed to shaping the future of automation together. Customers benefit from interoperability by driving business with the members of the SPE System Alliance. Close to 75 members are creating the largest ecosystem of SPE products, creating freedom of choice for customers. Endress+Hauser’s entrance into the partnership opens the door for sharing knowledge and expertise to deliver superior solutions.

Prospective product portfolio To offer customers the chance to grow their digitalization capabilities and realize all the benefits of SPE, Endress+Hauser is now working on its portfolio of field devices with SPE. A clear goal is to create a harmonized approach, comparable to the manufacturer’s Ethernet-APL devices.
